The game’s story is very simple. You are following along a dog named PaRappa as he tries to woe the girl (or flower?) of his dreams, Sunny Funny, by learning how to fight, drive, and other things, but these lessons aren’t for free! To truly master the classes, you must help PaRappa defeat his teachers in a rap battle by matching the beat of their unique songs and here’s where things get a bit tricky.
Besides the game’s sudden spikes in difficulty, one of the most challenging parts of PaRapper the Rapper is its pc controls. The timing of the buttons must be precise but the controls can have a delay when pressing the buttons. There will be moments when you think you’ve got the rhythm, only for your rating to drop drastically due to an input delay. The Remastered version does not fix these control issues either, so keep that in mind when purchasing the game.
It’s mind-blowing how something so goofy and adorable like PaRappa the Rapper can be so brutal and unforgiving, but then again, most rhythm games require you to have unnatural muscle reflexes to complete the stage perfectly on one try.
